#370 Block Club Chicago: Building A Nonprofit Newsroom

Block Club Chicago Editor-In-Chief and Co-founder Shamus Toomey will talk about creating a nonprofit neighborhood newsroom from the ashes of DNAinfo, the now-defunct for-profit newsroom.

Launched in 2018, Block Club Chicago mixes nonprofit fund-raising strategies with a subscription-based newsroom model, blending multiple revenue streams to diversify funding, which helps them focus on finding stories that matter to people, whether they are big or small.
