Sinai Chicago is a nonprofit system of hospitals, clinics, researchers, and social service providers dedicated to advancing health equity on Chicago’s west and southwest sides. Sinai Chicago serves over 100,000 low-income individuals and families and provides over $50 million in charity care annually. Everything Sinai Chicago does is focused on addressing the health and wellness needs of our city’s most vulnerable patients and communities.

In today’s complex healthcare environment, healthcare providers and patients rely on quality healthcare technology and modern data systems that put comprehensive patient health data and analytics at their fingertips. When effectively deployed, they can be powerful tools for advancing health equity and addressing health disparities.

In this talk, Sinai Chicago’s President & CEO, Dr. Ngozi Ezike, will discuss the critical role that healthcare data systems can play in addressing health disparities and advancing health equity. She’ll introduce a major initiative Sinai Chicago has undertaken to advance modern healthcare data infrastructure and technology for its own patients and communities. She’ll also speak to the role Chicago’s civic tech community can play in helping advance health equity through enhanced data and technology infrastructure.

Dr. Ezike has served as President & CEO of Sinai Chicago since 2022. Previously, she served as Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), where she navigated the state through the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Ezike is a board-certified internist and pediatrician with degrees from Harvard University and the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She is a passionate advocate for health equity.
