Online: Landlord Mapper - Year 2 #673

Landlord Mapper is an initiative to build a national database of rental property owner networks to help tenants identify their landlords. It began in June 2024 as a civic data project to link Chicago rental properties to their “true owners” using taxpayer records and business filings. Since the initial Chicago launch in January 2025, Landlord Mapper has expanded to new cities, established new partnerships and continues realizing its vision of advancing transparency in rental markets and building tools to facilitate research using big housing data.

Founder and lead developer Dylan Pederson returns to Chi Hack Night to report back about progress made so far in the initiative’s second year. He will present on methodological developments, data model standardization, pipeline construction and app development in the initiative’s second year.
