What does it take to build and maintain government websites that truly serve everyone? Meet NAGW, the National Association of Government Web Professionals, a community of practitioners from cities, counties, and states across the country doing exactly that. Two NAGW members share what the organization does, what they’ve learned in the field, and what still needs to change.

Debbie Deacy is the Web Services Manager for DuPage County, Illinois, where she leads a team responsible for the county’s web presence, digital accessibility, and content management system serving nearly one million residents. She co-chairs the county’s AI Committee and has been at the forefront of the county’s DOJ Title II ADA web accessibility compliance efforts. Prior to DuPage County, Debbie spent five years in web services at the City of Wheaton, Illinois. Debbie is a board member of NAGW, the National Association of Government Web Professionals, representing the Lakes Region. Outside of work, Debbie enjoys yoga, cooking, reading historical fiction, and genealogy research.

Colleen has more than 33 years of public service experience spanning school district and municipal government roles, including over 23 years with the City of Champaign, Illinois, where she serves as Systems Administrator. She oversees a wide range of technology services, including the City website, user accounts, directory services, enterprise productivity and collaboration platforms, financial systems, phone systems, and other critical operations, making her a go-to resource for keeping systems running smoothly.
